AC Shadows Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that defies conventional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret group.
The questline focuses on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an exclusive katana together with multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
